Booking Deposit

  • A deposit of AUD $200 may be required to secure a booking.

  • The deposit forms part of the total job price and will be credited towards the final invoice.

  • If the customer cancels the booking, the deposit is non-refundable and may be applied towards any applicable cancellation, futile pickup, futile delivery, storage, or other fees payable under these Terms and Conditions. 

Pricing & Minimum Charge

  • This quote is calculated based on current fuel prices. Should fuel prices increase significantly between the booking date and collection, a fuel levy may apply. This will be discussed and agreed upon prior to pickup.

  • The preliminary estimate is based on the inventory list and/or photos provided by the customer.

  • Final charges will be calculated based on:

    • Actual time spent (billed in 15-minute increments); and/or

    • Total volume of goods (per cubic metre).

  • A minimum charge of 2 hours or 2 cubic metres applies to all bookings.

Storage Services

  • Storage services are charged based on:

    • Storage duration;

    • Volume of goods;

    • Required storage space.

  • Any changes to storage duration or volume may result in additional charges.

Payment Terms

  • Full payment (including any deposit) is required immediately upon completion of the job at the delivery location, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

  • In some circumstances, full payment may be required prior to unloading, depending on risk, job conditions, or prior agreement.

If Payment Is Not Made

  • The carrier reserves a lien over the goods and may retain possession of the goods until all outstanding amounts have been paid in full.

  • Goods may be retained by the carrier or transported to a secure storage facility.

  • Additional storage and re-delivery fees may apply.

  • Interest and recovery costs may be charged on overdue accounts.

Scope of Services

The carrier provides transportation and related services, including:

  • Loading and unloading;

  • Transportation;

  • Optional packing and unpacking;

  • Optional furniture assembly and disassembly.

Additional conditions:

  • Packaging materials (boxes, wrap, tape, and protective materials) are charged separately unless otherwise agreed.

  • Goods are transported as provided ("as is").

  • The carrier does not inspect, repair, or certify items.

  • The carrier is not responsible for pre-existing or hidden damage.

The carrier is not liable for:

  • Pre-existing or hidden damage;

  • Fragile items;

  • Any items packed by the customer or third parties.

The carrier does not:

  • Disconnect or reconnect appliances;

  • Arrange parking;

  • Arrange lift bookings;

  • Arrange loading zones;

  • Arrange permits;

  • Arrange building access.

These matters remain the responsibility of the customer.

The customer is responsible for ensuring safe and reasonable access for collection and delivery, including parking, lift bookings, loading zones, permits, and any building management requirements.

Customer Responsibilities

The customer is responsible for providing accurate information regarding:

  • Dimensions;

  • Weight;

  • Quantity;

  • Pickup and delivery locations;

  • Access conditions;

  • Special handling requirements.

If the goods, access conditions, locations, dimensions, weight, quantity, or any other information provided differ materially from the information supplied at the time of quoting, the carrier reserves the right to:

  • Revise the quoted price;

  • Charge additional fees;

  • Refuse carriage; or

  • Reschedule the booking.

Any additional items not disclosed at the time of quoting may result in additional charges or may be refused carriage where insufficient vehicle capacity, labour, equipment, or time has been allocated.

Delivery & Scheduling

  • We aim to complete all jobs on the agreed date and time.

  • Schedules may be affected by factors beyond our control, including:

    • Traffic conditions;

    • Delays from previous jobs;

    • Weather conditions;

    • Operational issues.

  • We will notify the customer of any delays as soon as reasonably possible.

  • The carrier is not liable for delays caused by external factors.

Rescheduling

  • Requests to reschedule a booking should be made at least 24 hours before the scheduled pickup time.

  • Rescheduling is subject to availability.

  • Requests made with less than 24 hours' notice may be treated as a cancellation and applicable cancellation fees may apply.

Cancellation Fees

By confirming a booking, the customer acknowledges that vehicle space, scheduling, route planning, labour, and operational resources are reserved specifically for the booked transport service.

  • If a booking is cancelled after confirmation but before the scheduled pickup date, a cancellation fee of 20% of the total quoted price will apply, with a minimum cancellation fee of AUD $200.

  • If a booking is cancelled on the scheduled pickup date, the full quoted amount (100% of the booking value) may be charged.

  • Any cancellation fee may be deducted from deposits already paid.

  • Any remaining balance becomes immediately due and payable upon cancellation.

Futile Pick-Up / Futile Delivery Fees

If we attend a scheduled pickup or delivery and are unable to complete the service through no fault of our own, we reserve the right to charge a futile pickup or futile delivery fee equal to 20% of the quoted booking value, with a minimum charge of AUD $200.

This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Incorrect collection or delivery address provided;

  • Goods not being available for collection or delivery;

  • Customer or authorised contact not being present;

  • Lack of required collection authority, identification, paperwork, or documentation;

  • Access restrictions not disclosed prior to booking;

  • Incorrect, incomplete, or misleading booking information supplied by the customer;

  • Auction houses, storage facilities, dealerships, warehouses, transport depots, or other third-party collection or delivery locations being unavailable, closed, refusing release, experiencing delays, or otherwise unable to provide or accept the goods at the agreed time.

Where actual non-refundable costs incurred by the carrier exceed the above fee, including accommodation, fuel, tolls, permits, travel expenses, or other reasonable operational costs, the carrier reserves the right to recover such costs.

Demurrage Fees

Customers must ensure that goods are ready for collection and that delivery locations are accessible at the agreed time.

If loading, unloading, access, paperwork, customer availability, or any other circumstance beyond the carrier's control causes delays exceeding 20 minutes, a demurrage fee of AUD $50 per 30 minutes (or part thereof) may be charged.

Our Right to Refuse, Cancel or Reschedule

We reserve the right to refuse, cancel, postpone, or reschedule a booking due to:

  • Safety concerns;

  • Unsafe or hazardous conditions;

  • Unsuitable access;

  • Vehicle limitations;

  • Incorrect, incomplete, or misleading information provided by the customer.

Damage Claims

  • All damage must be reported within 24 hours of delivery.

  • Claims made after this period will not be accepted.

  • By signing the Job Completion Confirmation Form, the customer confirms that all goods have been received, inspected, and accepted in satisfactory condition at the time of completion.

  • Any claim for loss or damage must be made prior to signing the Job Completion Confirmation Form.

  • No further claims will be accepted after this document has been signed.

- Acceptance of Terms -

By confirming a booking, paying a deposit, or allowing the carrier to commence work, the customer acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions, including any policies published at www.1st-move.au.
